XVCS stands for eXtended Version Control System, it will carry out the tasks required from any version control system, however its client and server will have a decent GUI and will work on any OS that has a JVM. Communications will be curried through XML based protocol carried over http or https, so no special setup will be needed for the client and it can work through proxies and fire walls.

Currently the XVCS project is in "concepts testing phase", that means that XVCS is being created and the basic concepts are put into implementation (the server part is almost done but the client is far still behind). However a related tool (JDiff) is now in beta. JDiff is a java based GUI diff application.
